Each year, the Wisconsin Polka Boosters will select an individual or individuals to receive a Wisconsin Polka Boosters Scholarship involving education. The Wisconsin Polka Boosters have the option to choose the total number of scholarships to be issued each year. Such information will be posted in the Wisconsin Polka Boosters newsletter, “Polka Notes”. No individual may receive more than one Wisconsin Polka Booster scholarship. The deadline for entry for each year’s scholarship(s) is December 31, of the year.

Criteria for Application

The following persons are eligible for the Wisconsin Polka Booster Scholarship Program.

A. Graduating high school students or high school graduates who have:

  • An accumulated GPA 3.00 or better
  • Plans to, or is attending a college or technical school, or an institution of higher education
  • Submits an official copy of the individual’s high school transcript
  • Submits two letters of recommendation from non-family member
  • Submits one educational reference
  • Submits one character reference
  • Submit a copy of the student’s diploma if available

B. Any person who wishes to pursue additional higher education involving their endeavors; a person who wishes to obtain a graduate degree in their field of education, or an auto mechanic who wishes to go back to auto mechanic school to learn more about engine repair

  • Submits a letter of intent detailing their plan of study
  • Submits written information about the institution they plan to attend
  • Submits two letters of recommendation from non-family members
  • Submits information about the name of the institution that is being attend or will be attending and the location of the school

C. Further criteria for all recipients of Wisconsin Polka Boosters Scholarships

  • Must be willing to promote the polka in some way
  • Must be willing to attend the Wisconsin State Polka Festival held in May
  • If possible, participate in the Wisconsin Polka Boosters parade commitments
  • Attend the annual Wisconsin Polka Boosters Christmas Dinner Dance held in December
  • Scholarship awards are paid by check made out jointly to the recipient and the institution the recipient is or plans to attend. The recipient’s school ID number will be placed on the check. The check will ten be forwarded to the institution for processing after it is endorsed by the recipient.
  • Prefer parents and/or grandparents of high school students be members of Wisconsin Polka Boosters.
  • Must physically attend the awards program where recipients receive their scholarship(s), which is either held at Wisconsin State Polka Festival or Wisconsin Polka Booster’s Scholarship Dance.
