About the Wisconsin Polka Boosters

This amazing group has been around since 1970 when it was incorporated as a non-profit, charitable organization under the laws of the State of Wisconsin. The IRS has classified the club as a 501(c) 3 non-taxable, charitable entity, with an annual membership of around 800 – 1000 persons.

The purpose of Wisconsin Polka Boosters us to provide charitable and scholarship funds to enhance and foster the growth of polka music and dance, and indeed the organization has done so.

The accomplishments of the Boosters have been astonishing. Perhaps, the greatest achievement has been spearheading the drive to make the polka the official dance of the State of Wisconsin, and so it was done by the Wisconsin State Legislature in 1994. Since that time, the polka, as the State Dance, has become a gem and a treasure for the State of Wisconsin, especially for the tourist industry. As a result, the Polka Boosters celebrate the polka as the State Dance, each year, at the club’s annual Wisconsin State Polka Festival.

Some of the other major historic highlights of the Wisconsin Polka Boosters are as follows:
* The group has given away thousands of dollars to individuals under a scholarship program, the make life careers better.
* Has taught thousands how to polka dance through the clubs’ polka dance lessons with continue today. The group also sponsors polka dance lessons and contests for other organizations.
* Established a polka radio program heard on AM and FM radio stations for many years along with publishing a newsletter called “Polka Notes”.
* Created the Wisconsin Polka Hall of Fame, which is still in existence today.

These are only a few of the accomplishments of the Boosters. Scores of others are too many to mention.

As a tax-deductible organization, the WPBI (Wisconsin Polka Boosters, INC.) would appreciate any donations you may wish to make. Further, please keep WPBI in mind when doing any estate planning. Any bequests, large or small will be put to good use. Remember, WPBI is pursing worthy goals and WPBI appreciated your consideration and generosity.
